Graceless Reviews Are In

Two great reviews for DC Production

The reviews are in and Original Bindings Production of Gracelessi in the 2015 Capital Fringe Festival is a hit! Max Kaplow of the DC Theatre Scene writes "We are used to seeing man dominate the political world, in Graceless we see man dominated not just by politics, but by women. The effect is less emasculating for Aaron than it is empowering for the female leads. The dialogue is quick, explosive, and laden with a generous amount of humor. This world feels lived in, researched, and is believable because of it." While Allison Frisch gives the show 4 stars in the DC Metro Theater Arts stating its "an admirable production to Fringe. Graceless examines not just political power, but the powerful chain reaction that personal relationships can have on a person, a city, a country."

The production is directed by Sarah M. Chichester with Lighting Design and Stage Managed by Krystal Wilson. The cast includes Josh Krebs as Aaron, Lauren Salvo as Aria, Amanda Rodhe as Grace, and Elizabeth Pegg as Nancy.

Original Binding Productions Announces Season

2013 Season To Include Four New Productions

As Artistic Director of Original Binding Productions, I'm happy to announce our 2013 Season which will feature four new shows. We kick off our season in April with White Picket Fences by Tariq Hamami. This bold new play follows the story of a married couple in New Jersey whose life is turned upside down by the arrival of a very pregnant ex-girlfriend. In June, we launch my new show Farewell to Sanity and Other Irrational Constructs. This dramatic comedy will be featured as part of the Planet Connections Festivity. It's a dark dramatic comedy centered on Dr. Paul Henley’s psychiatric practice and his own struggle with sanity. In August, we return for a second installment of our one-act play event: Naked Theater 2: The Ladies. Same rules as last year (a stripped-down stage and scenes that reveal the actors' naked emotions - not their naked bodies), only this time around all the plays are written by female playwrights. Then in October, we close out the season with Variations on a Cat Call by Jordan Swisher, a powerful exploration of modern gender politics. It's going to be a great season! Hope you join us.

Farewell To Sanity To Debut This Summer

As Part Of The Planet Connections Festivity

I'm happy to announce that my new play, Farewell to Sanity and Other Irrational Constructs (Or I’m Not Crazy, But My Shrink Thinks I Am), will appear this June as part of the Planet Connections Festivity. We will play for six shows at the Gene Frankel Theatre in New York City. I will share the performance dates as soon as I know them.

Farewell to Sanity and Other Irrational Constructs (Or I’m Not Crazy, But My Shrink Thinks I Am), is a dark dramatic comedy centered on Dr. Paul Henley’s psychiatric practice. Among his more noteworthy patients are Levi Jakobson, a compulsive and generally unhinged man who recently became a Tibetan Buddhist; Leslie Jade, a mute high school girl who only communicates via an iPad; Alan Taymor, a middle-aged, out-of-shape man who is secretly trying to become a real-life superhero; and Laurence Williams, a foul-mouthed clown who was referred to Henley by the court system. Throughout the course of the play, the burnt-out Dr. Henley manages to offend most of his patients, his overly supportive secretary, and his on-leave-from-the-Navy girlfriend. But it's not until Henley is confronted by the ghost of Tom Haskins, a whaling ship captain from the 1800s who claims Henley is his reincarnated spirit, that he starts to question his sanity. Tasked by Haskins to set the cosmic scales right for the mistakes he made in August of 1863, Henley embarks on an insane adventure that could cost him his license to practice, his sanity, and his life.
